Information
Some important information you may find useful.
Where does the Toy Run start and how do I register? The start location is located at Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park. There is NO COST to register. We do encourage all riders to register as it helps with our planning, licensing and insurance requirements. Only registered bikes can enter the Show and Shine and bike games at the Glenwood Centre, where the Toy Run ends.
What time does the run start? Riders generally start gathering at Little Qualicum Falls Park at around 9am. The run begins at 12 noon sharp when the black powder cannon fires.
The ride takes approximately 25 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic and where you are in the group.
Overview maps showing Little Qualicum Falls and the route through Port Alberni:
At the Glenwood there will be the toy drop off, the 'Show and Shine', beer gardens, t-shirt and other souvenir item sales, a variety of food and other vendors and the bike games. Any remaining dance tickets not sold at the Falls will be available for anyone (19+) to purchase. Activities for families and kids will be inside the Glenwood Centre. There will be plenty of picnic tables, wash stations and port-a potties available.
Please note that for safety and hygiene reasons we can only accept new, unused toys and games in their original packaging.
Many riders from other communities have a long tradition of riding in the Toy Run, participating in the Glenwood activities and the dance, then staying overnight in one of the local hotels or other accomodations available within the city. The riders will then take in the Sunday pancake breakfast, ride in the poker run and end the day at the beer garden where we feature the prize draws and a live auction for some really amazing items.
Every year, Alberni Island Shuttle graciously offers free Saturday night bus service from a variety of hotels to and from the dance at the Glenwood.
Beginning at 7pm and running throughout the evening, the bus will travel to several hotels, starting with the Barclay directly to Toy Run. The bus will then do the Redford Street strip with stops at Sunset Motel, Redford Hotel, Hospitality Inn, Tyee Motel and dropping off at the Glenwood. The bus then goes to Oceans Marina Hotel and the Riverside Motel with a stop again at the Barclay, and then to the Glenwood. The travel pattern and return trips repeat, starting at the Barclay again. Passengers need to be waiting outside as the bus will not stop unless people are visible and ready to go.
Please note that for access and logistical reasons, the bus does not go to either the Somass Motel or the Timber Lodge.
Toy Run sincerely appreciates this generous service offered freely for the safety and convenience of our guests. We respectully suggest that riders give a gratuity of $5. or more to the bus driver for providing this service.
